DeVeaux is located in West Toledo. The neighborhood is bounded by Jackman Road, Laskey Road, Secor Road, Interstate 475, and Monroe Street. DeVeaux began its development in the 1930s and continued through the 1960s.

DeVeaux is a mixture of pre and post-World War II homes. Tudor, Neo-Colonial, Arts and Crafts, Prairie, Ranch, Split-Level, and Dutch Colonial designs are the most common in the neighborhood. Lots range from moderately sized to large, and the streets in DeVeaux vary from a grid pattern to curvilinear designs.

Space for recreation is found mostly at Bowman Park, featuring baseball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, a soccer field, pathways for walking or jogging, and a picnic grounds. Close Park, nearby, offers facilities for baseball, tennis, and basketball. A YMCA facility near these two parks also provides recreation to DeVeaux residents. Pine Glen Park, on the western fringe of the neighborhood, has a baseball diamond and tennis court.

DeVeaux also has a few local shopping areas. The Miracle Mile Shopping Center on the corner of Jackman Road and Laskey Road provides many goods and services to local residents. DeVeaux Village Shopping Center, on the corner of Sylvania Avenue and Douglas Road, features a grocery store as well as restaurants and specialty shops. Monroe Street, in the southern portion of the neighborhood, is a commercial corridor offering a wide range of goods and services.

Like much of West Toledo, DeVeaux has access to many of Toledo’s major streets. Monroe Street heads southeast to the Toledo Museum of Art and downtown Toledo, and northwest to the Franklin Park Mall and the city of Sylvania. Laskey Road is an east-west corridor connecting DeVeaux to Toledo’s industrial sector. Secor Road runs south to the nearby Westgate Shopping Center and The University of Toledo, while Sylvania Avenue and Douglas Road serve as a means of transportation within the neighborhood and to other parts of West Toledo. Interstate 475 is accessible at Secor Road, Douglas Road, and Central Avenue.
